Heartwarming update after woman was bitten in the face by a shark and left fighting for life
A shark attack survivor who was bitten on the face two months ago has made an astonishing recovery after being left fighting for her life two months ago.
Bridgette O'Shannessy, 32, was attacked by a white pointer shark in early November while she and her partner were diving in Port Noarlunga, south of Adelaide.
Ms O'Shannessy's partner Brian Peters posted a touching update on Instagram over Christmas after the diver underwent surgery.
'Merry Christmas everyone! Love from Bridgette, Bruno, Huey and me,” he wrote.
The photo showed the smiling couple in front of a Christmas tree, each holding a beloved dog.

Ms O'Shannessy, from Yackandanah, near the NSW-Victoria border, was placed in intensive care after the attack.
She fought back and was in stable condition after a second surgery.
Operations at Flinders Medical Center include removing teeth and repairing damaged nerves.
The Flinders University environmental sciences honors student was attacked just 50 meters offshore.
“She is doing very well, considering the circumstances,” Peters said at the time.
“Thank you for all the good wishes I passed on to her.”
It is believed Mr Peters pushed the shark away, saving the 32-year-old's life.

Ms O'Shannessy is one of five people to be attacked by a shark in South Australian waters in 2023, three of whom will not survive.
Adelaide teenager Khai Cowley was killed after he was attacked by a great white shark off Ethel Wreck beach on the Yorke Peninsula just before 1.30pm on December 28.
The attack was witnessed by Khai's father, who was forced to spend New Year's Day without his son.
Tod Gendle, 55, was mauled to death by a huge 4.2 meter white shark near Granite Rock south of Streaky Bay, SA on October 31.
Witnesses described the moment the shark lunged at the surfer before being dragged underwater by the animal.
In May, 46-year-old Elliston man Simon Baccanello was killed in a shark attack at Walkers Rocks Beach.
