Everton are reportedly considering giving a former Manchester United star another shot at Premier League football.

The Toffees are looking for cheap options and the top-flight castaway, who was released to another club in the summer, could be an attractive option.

Sean Dyche's men have found themselves back in the middle of the relegation crisis after three defeats, but must tread carefully due to Premier League spending rules as they have already been handed a 10-point ban.

Everton could give the free agent, who has made almost 200 Premier League appearances for three different clubs and also made 32 appearances for England, a short-term contract until the end of the season.

The player in question is Jesse Lingard, and talkSPORT reports that Everton could opt for him this January transfer window.

Lingard was part of Nottingham Forest's successful survival side last season but flattered to deceive and was released after scoring twice in 20 games.

He had trials with Steven Gerrard's Al-Ettifaq in Saudi Arabia but a contract did not materialize and the 31-year-old has been training alone since then.

After a partnership with Manchester United that spanned more than two decades, his Premier League career looked in tatters in 2020/21 as he fell out of favor and failed to play a single league match in half a season.
