Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher agree on EIGHT players in their Premier League teams of the season so far… as Liverpool legend is slammed for leaving out Erling Haaland and Rodri

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have named their Premier League teams of the season so far, with the Sky Sports duo agreeing on eight selections.

But there were some controversial calls and plenty of bickering between the two, as Carragher was criticized by Neville and Jones for leaving out Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland and their midfielder Rodri.

The Liverpool legend, meanwhile, hit back at the former Man United defender for leaving Chelsea stars Cole Palmer and Bernardo Silva out of his squad.

Despite this, they each picked eight of the same players, with both opting for a back four Trent Alexander-ArnoldWilliam Saliba, Virgil van Dijk and Destiny Udogie in their defense.

They also both opted for Declan Rice in midfield, with the pair also choosing Mohamed Salah, Jarrod Bowen and Son Heung-min as their attacking players.

But there were some discrepancies in their XIs, with Neville opting to add an extra striker, Haaland, to his team and play with four strikers, with only Rice and Rodri in midfield.

Carragher slammed the former Man United defender's team selections on Sky Sports, claiming it was going to be 'the narrowest team I've ever seen in my life', before adding: 'There's absolutely no width whatsoever.'

Neville, meanwhile, hit back, saying: 'I think my team would beat your team Jamie.

“We would waltz so much,” he added.

Neville also opted not to pick any players from Man United or Chelsea in his squad, claiming: 'I couldn't pick anyone from Manchester United or Chelsea just because they've been so bad.'

But Carragher, who chose a midfield three of Palmer, Silva and Rice, criticized him for leaving out both Chelsea and Manchester City's star.

Carragher said: 'I can't believe you didn't pick Bernardo Silva, I just think he's been sensational every season. And Cole Palmer, you said you can't pick a certain player because a team hasn't done very well, but that elevates Cole Palmer to me.

'His performances this season have made him by far Chelsea's best player, because that is not that difficult. But I think Palmer has been one of the players of the season.”

Despite this, Neville hit back at Carragher for not picking Rodri in his team.

'Rodri is the best midfielder in the world in his position.' Neville said. 'They have already won two trophies and are about two points behind, three points off the top of the league. I can't believe you didn't pick Rodri in that midfield.

'I love Bernardo Silva and I think Cole Palmer is a great talent. I couldn't pick anyone for Chelsea or United, I just wrote them off. But Silva, I couldn't get him in front of any of my front four; For me, Haaland is the best striker in the world, together with Harry Kane, he is the top scorer in the competition.'

Carragher also opted to pick Vicario, while Neville opted for Allison, and Carragher said: 'If a new goalkeeper comes to the Premier League and performs as well as he has, then that's why he's in .'

The pair also agreed that Unai Emery was their manager of the season so far.

Reflecting on their joint squads, Neville praised Rice for his start at the Emirates, adding that he felt there had not been too many standout players so far this season.

Neville: 'I think Declan Rice has had a good, solid start at Arsenal, perhaps soured a bit in recent weeks with the results. Overall he was a very good addition. He will be a big player for many years to come.

“Midfield has been a challenge and I think midfield has been the area I've struggled with the most in the sense that no one has been great in midfield. Rice is the best choice.'

On picking Jarrod Bowen best, Neville added: 'Bowen had to be in my team because of how well he's done, the goals he's scored and the impact he's had, and I always think when you do that for a team that isn't. being at the top and not creating as many chances is more excellent.

'What made me uncomfortable is that he is my only centre-forward. Ultimately, due to my lack of options in midfield, I went for the extra striker at the top at Bowen.'
