A police officer has died in the line of duty after being shot in Oakland as the woke prosecutor was recalled amid rampant violent theft in the city.
The officer was reportedly shot and killed during an incident Friday night.
The officer was transported to Highland Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
“It is with heavy hearts that we come together to share the devastating news of the passing of our colleague and friend,” the Oakland Police Department shared on social media.
At approximately 5:15 a.m., large portions of the Embarcadero were closed and traffic was diverted.

Only law enforcement officers were allowed access to the Embarcadero, and California Highway Patrol moved to close I-880's northbound 5th Ave and southbound 16th Ave exits.
Multiple law enforcement officers surrounded Highland Hospital in Oakland and set up a command center.
An Oakland Police Department (OPD) helicopter also maintained a constant presence over the Embarcadero area throughout the morning.
Oakland Firefighters shared in a post on X that their “hearts are with the Oakland police officer who was shot this morning.”
No further information has been released and the investigation is ongoing.
An official OPD press conference is scheduled for Friday to provide further information.
