The festive season revives Jigsaw as festive shoppers splurge on new dresses

One of the Princess of Wales's favorite labels has enjoyed a much-needed revival as shoppers flock to party dresses. Jigsaw's parent company Mountain Berg announced that sales rose to £56.8 million in the year to the end of January.

This was more than the £47.7 million it raised a year earlier, when lockdown restrictions were first lifted. This meant profits also rose to £1.9 million, an increase of £700,000 on the previous year.

Jigsaw has been in the wardrobes of middle-class women for 50 years and is a favorite of Kate, who used to work in a shop.

But it was already struggling before the pandemic hit, as tough competition in mid-range women's fashion drove chain nursing losses.

And lockdown restrictions forced Jigsaw to close many of its stores.

But since the world has reopened, the company has made progress with a stronger online offering, partnered with companies like Next and is looking for locations for new stores.
