Three Manipur cadres of the IPS were appointed as heads of the central paramilitary forces on Thursday, with astute Intelligence Bureau officer Rahul Rasgotra taking charge of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police and Nina Singh becoming the first woman to head the central industrial security force.
She is currently the Special Director General of CISF, which mans airports, the Delhi Metro, government buildings and strategic installations across the country.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Nina Singh as DG CISF till July 31, 2024, i.e. the date of her retirement, an order issued by the Ministry of Personnel said.
Anish Dayal Singh, a 1988-batch IPS officer from Manipur, has been appointed director general of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), the world's largest paramilitary force. He has been holding this post for the past few weeks as an additional position besides heading the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP).
He will head the CRPF until his retirement on December 31, 2024.
CRPF, with a force of around 3.25 lakh personnel, is spread across the length and breadth of the country for maintaining peace. It plays an active role in combating terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.
Rasgotra, a 1989-batch IPS officer from Manipur cadre, who has handled key bureaus in the Intelligence Bureau for nearly three decades, was appointed as director general of ITBP, which has a staff of around 90,000.
Rasgotra's appointment to the ITBP, which is deployed along the Sino-Indian border, comes at a time when the paramilitary force will have an additional team of intelligence officers for surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Rasgotra was a special director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB).
He has been appointed till September 30, 2025, i.e. the date of his retirement, the order said.
Vivek Srivastava, a 1989-batch IPS officer from the Gujarat cadre, will be director general of Fire Service, Civil Defense and Home Guard.
He has been appointed till June 30, 2025, i.e. the date of his retirement, the order said. Srivastava is currently special director at IB.
