Former Miss Universe Australia Tegan Martin announces shock new career move as she takes a step back from social media
Tegan Martin has revealed a surprising new career change ahead of the new year.
The former Miss Universe Australia, 31, took to Instagram on Wednesday to show off some of her achievements over the past year, announcing that she is studying a Bachelor of Health Science – and is now in her final year.
She also explained her lack of social media presence and said she likes to live a “private life.”
“This year I've been struggling to appear on social media like I used to,” Tegan began.
“Despite what you may think, sharing all facets of my life has never come naturally to me and I have had to dig deep to keep up (give me privacy and be able to be present with my people every day).”

The Newcastle model then listed her key achievements from 2023, including delivering her “first keynote 'Health is Wealth' to over 80 businesswomen at a Fiji conference”, and co-authoring published articles and mini-series on health.
Tegan also revealed she is planning a 'secret project' with her best friend, which will start next year.
“If you had asked me five years ago, I was 'busy' but completely out of alignment with my passion for health and wellness,” she added.

'This year everything became crystal clear. I am finally living my purpose, which brings more joy than I can express in words.”
Tegan concluded: “If you haven't found your 'thing' yet, don't give up, it's worth the bloody wait.”
Tegan competed in the 63rd annual Miss Universe competition in 2014 and placed in the top ten.
That same year, she was crowned Miss Universe Australia after representing her hometown of Newcastle in the national competition.

She made headlines in 2017 when she claimed she was 'too fat' for Australia's Next Top Model.
'I was too fat for Next Top Model. They just said they kissed like I was 'too commercial', she said during her appearance on I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!
'I've always had curves that looked like breasts and an ass… and that's why, when I lived in Paris, I had to starve myself to work.
She added: 'It's a shame but thankfully I'm out of that area now.'
