Bridgerton has revealed a first look at Queen Charlotte ahead of the highly anticipated prequel spin-off series.
It was announced last year that a spin-off series would chart the younger years of the flamboyant and gossip-hungry monarch, with the show written and produced by Bridgerton creator Shonda Rhimes.
And Netflix has released a first image of India Amarteifio as the fans’ favorite character from the period drama.

The actress, 21, embodied the character as she was dripping with jewels and wore an elegant white dress with a fitted corset and a shimmering satin hooded cloak.
She completed her regal attire with a pair of satin cream gloves and set an extravagant crown in her dark locks.
Charlotte cast a solemn glance at the camera as she posed in a palace, with floral arrangements and sculptures in the background.
Not only did Netflix give a first glimpse of the character, but also revealed that the official title for the prequel spin-off show will be Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
She is back! Not only did Netflix give a first glimpse of the character, but also revealed that the official title for the prequel spin-off show will be Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
A description of the series read: ‘Centered on Queen Charlotte’s rise to fame and power, this prequel to Bridgerton verse tells the story of how the young Queen’s marriage to King George sparked both a great love story and a societal shift, thus the world of Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton.’
The news came ahead of Saturday’s Netflix fan event Tudum, where the series will air and more surprising announcements will be revealed.
In the prequel, Golda Rosheuvel also returns in the role of Queen Charlotte, in her later years, with Adjoa Andoh playing the fierce Lady Agatha Danbury.
Ruth Gemmell will also reprise her role as Lady Violet Bridgerton, while Michelle Fairley will join the cast as Princess Augusta.

Elsewhere, Corey Mylchreest plays Young King George and Arsema Thomas makes her television debut as Young Agatha Danbury.
Set in the mid-18th century, the prequel explores the young life of Charlotte, the daughter of the German royal family who married British monarch George III, played in Corey Mylchreest’s Netflix drama, in 1761, when she 17.
The marriage lasted 57 years and produced 15 children. Miss Amarteifio, 21, who played DCI Roz Huntley’s daughter Sophie in the fourth season of BBC drama Line Of Duty, also starred in Dr Who and ITV’s Unforgotten.
It also contains the origins of other characters from Bridgerton, namely Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury.
After rumors that Bridgerton’s second series didn’t live up to the raunchy heights of the first, it seems the producers took note, with the Netflix drama spin-off prequel, Queen Charlotte, spiced up to keep ratings high.

For one scene, a source says, a wall was reinforced. In another scene, viewers will see banging headboards.
According to one source, there were fears that an energetic lovemaking scene with the young monarch, played by India’s Ria Amarteifio, would be so energetic it could literally bring the house down.
“There’s a young cast for the prequel and the sex scenes have them in,” the insider said. It will certainly satisfy those Bridgerton fans who complain that there are no sex scenes in the second series.
“In one storyline there will be a headboard banging hard against a wall. It will be spicier than anything from the first series.”
