Heart-stopping moment family-of-five narrowly avoid death after driver veers onto the wrong side of the road in Queensland
A family of five in Queensland almost didn't survive Christmas Day after a motorist crossed onto the opposite side of the road and almost caused a head-on collision.
Dashcam footage showed the family driving along the highway from Bowen to Guthalungra, in the state's north, on Friday afternoon.
As the family turned the corner, they were met by a motorist traveling from the opposite direction, in their lane.
The driver had apparently attempted to overtake the car in front of him by entering the family's lane.
Luckily, the dashcam owner's reflexes kicked in and they swerved to the side as the driver drove into the grass behind them.

No major damage was done to their car; only the driver's side mirror was removed.
A woman screamed and cursed as the car drove towards the family.
“F**k me. You're a ***ole c**t,' she said. “We almost got hit and died.”
Commenters under the video applauded the driver's quick thinking.
'Great job! You saved several lives in a millisecond! I'm glad you and the woman are doing well,” someone said.
“Thank God you were alert, and I hope you kissed the ground when you got out,” wrote another.
Others were not convinced the car was trying to overtake.

“They went straight into the grass,” one person wrote.
“It could have been on the phone, falling asleep, having a medical emergency, or someone could have grabbed the steering wheel during an argument. So many things.'
Queensland Police were unaware of the incident.
