Father breaks down in tears as his daughter surprises him with prized collector’s item he was forced to sell 30 years earlier when his family was desperate for money

  • Lindsey Moore never forgot a sacrifice her father made when she was a child
  • When her family was strapped for cash, he had sold his prized Dan baseball card
  • As his Secret Santa, she was able to get him the baseball card for Christmas

A woman brought her father to tears by gifting him a valuable baseball card that he had sold thirty years earlier when his family had fallen on hard times.

Lindsey Moore of Nashville will never forget how, when she was seven or eight years old, her father sold his beloved 1984 Dan Marino baseball card to help his family afford the necessities.

Thirty years later, she seized the opportunity to restore what her father had sacrificed when she became his Secret Santa – and gifted him back the very same edition of the card he had traded for cash so long ago.

The daughter, a dental technician, shared footage of the moment her father received the gift on TikTok and quickly saw the heartwarming post go viral.

The just under two-minute video shows the father opening Lindsey's card, during which she says his sale of the card was “one of the [her] most vivid childhood memories.'

'You left me and [my brother] Nick in the car to go to the comic book/card store,” she recalled in the note.

“In that moment, I felt your sacrifice,” she continued.

“It taught me that I would do whatever it took to make sure my future family would never need anything.

“It was a lesson that has stuck with me ever since.”

At the time, after realizing he had sold his card, “my seven-year-old mind was determined to buy it back.

“I knew I would work hard enough to pay back what you put into the greater good,” she further described.

Lindsey's note to her father ended with the touching thought, “I would be so elated to see that I was finally keeping the promise I made to myself.”
