Former Neighbors star Matty Wilson has revealed how one selfie launched his career.
The 34-year-old actor was working as a tradie when his friend said there was a competition for an underwear ad – eventually leading to his successful career as a soap star and model.
After his mother took pictures of him and sent them in, he quickly ended up modeling for the AussieBum Underwear brand.

“The next day we got a call saying, ‘Are you free next Monday?’ so we went to the AussieBum headquarters and seven days later we opened the Sunday paper, where there was a full distribution of me,” he said. Nine Honey.
After achieving success as a model, he joined Aussie soap opera Neighbors as Aaron Brennan in 2015, making history when he married David Tanaka, played by actor Takaya Honda, in Australia’s first gay marriage on Australian TV.
“That was the most iconic moment of my career,” he added.

“It was an incredibly important story for our characters and it was reinforced when the Australian government allowed same-sex marriage.
“I think it happened the day before or the day after the episode aired. That was pure coincidence.’
It comes after the former Neighbors star made a surprising confession about working on soap operas.

in an interview with Yahoo last week he said, ‘I’m probably going to get shot if I say this, but I’m not a big fan of soap operas.’
“It’s just too much drama, I guess,” he added with a laugh.
“One day you’re crying, yelling, you’ve got so much going on. It’s so dramatic!’
Matt is now a partner of WWF Australia, the conservation organization helping to raise awareness about endangered species
Matt also revealed that he won’t be joining the cast of Home and Away anytime soon, despite growing up watching the Channel Seven soap.
While Aaron is looking for new acting opportunities, he eagerly awaits the birth of his second child.
He and his wife Jessica married in 2019 and welcomed their first child in February 2021.
