Leaked Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra image shows off its quad-lens rear camera
The next big flagship smartphone launch should be for the Samsung Galaxy S24 series in January – and the leaks surrounding the handsets continue, with the latest image reportedly showing the Ultra's rear camera setup model shows.
This image comes from tipster @chunvn8888 (through GSMArena), and appears to come from some sort of production facility: we can see multiple modules in a drawer, along with some identifying information in the form of model numbers and codes.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to feature a quad-lens camera setup on the back, consisting of a 200MP main camera, 50MP and 10MP telephoto cameras, and a 12MP ultrawide camera.
Read through our Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra review and you'll see that the big improvement in terms of megapixels would be one of the telephoto cameras – although the main 200MP camera would also use an improved sensor.
Photos by the numbers
There has been a lot of speculation about the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra's zoom capabilities, with tipsters suggesting that one of the two telephoto lenses will be boosted to 50MP – but will also drop from 10x to 5x in terms of optical zoom.
As we explained earlier, that's not as disappointing as it might seem at first. If Samsung also improves its image processing software next year, it should deliver better photos and videos overall, even if the zoom isn't as capable.
Numerous leaks have hinted that the Samsung Galaxy S24 series will have plenty of AI tricks and tools, and that could also extend to the handsets' photo-taking capabilities, allowing for low-light images, blurry shots and more to be improved.
While this image component leak doesn't reveal any new information, it's yet another sign that the Galaxy 24 Ultra and the other two models are coming soon. Several reliable sources suggest that the phones will be unveiled on January 17, 2024.
