An 18-year-old man has been charged over a two-car crash that left six other people, including three children, in hospital in Sydney's south-west.

Police claim a sedan was seen traveling at 90mph in a signed 70mph zone in Milperra at 2am on Saturday when it collided with a 4WD.

A 43-year-old woman and three children (aged 10, 14 and 15) were trapped in the 4WD before being released and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities said the injuries were not considered life-threatening.

Two passengers in the sedan, both men aged 18, were hospitalized and listed in stable conditions.

The driver of the sedan, an 18-year-old man, was also taken to hospital under police guard for mandatory tests and subsequently charged with 11 offences, including dangerous driving causing grievous bodily harm.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.

Photos from the scene on Saturday afternoon showed piles of rubble mixed with what appeared to be articles of clothing and other trinkets.

A plastic green p-plate could be seen nearby scattered shards of glass and metal.
