A disturbing road rage incident has been captured on video, showing a man repeatedly punching a driver through a car window.

The incident happened on Spencer Road in Perth on Wednesday, leaving motorists stunned.

It shows a man wearing a white T-shirt, dark pants and sneakers throwing a barrage of punches through the open window of a white sedan.

Eventually, a brave tradie, wearing a hi-vis vest and shorts, intervenes to stop the attack.

Commenters online expressed their shock at the incident, with one writing: 'What a criminal. Give up your driver's license and take the bus.'

Others asked why no one else tried to help and a few people asked why the driver didn't open the window.

WA Police were notified of the incident and are investigating.
