The Finals update makes improvements to its anti-cheat software and adds a Christmas twist to the Monaco map
Embark Studios has released a new patch for The finalewith improvements to anti-cheat detection.
Earlier this week, the developer discussed the ongoing cheating issues plaguing the first-person multiplayer shooter and confirmed that it was working on strengthening the title's EAC (Easy Anti-Cheat) system.
With Patch 1.4.0, the studio has made “major changes to our anti-cheat detection to ensure fewer matches with players who don't play fair.” With any luck, players should now be spared from disrupted games.
In addition to various balance changes and quality of life improvements “across the game,” including various weapons and abilities like the Goo Gun and Mesh Shield, Embark is also treating players to a free Christmas bundle to celebrate the holidays.
The bundle expires on January 3 and comes with the Ho Ho Hat, Stocking Stuffer charm, Festiver Firepower grenade skin, and a Deck the Halls sticker. There is also a new Holiday Spirit set available in the in-game store for 1000 Multibucks, including a festive elf costume.
Additionally, the Monaco map has also received a temporary snow makeover, to coincide with the game's Christmas event. You can check out the trailer below, along with the full patch notes.

- Goo Gun – Fixed an issue where goo could block the player
- Mesh Shield – Mesh Shield Health reduced from 1250 to 1100
- Recon Senses – Recon Senses activation cost reduced from 1 to 2
Gadgets

- Maximum player damage C4 reduced from 240 to 210
- Maximum damage radius C4 reduced from 2.4 meters to 1.6 meters
- The C4 self-damage multiplier has been increased from 1 to 1.3
Dome shield
- Dome Shield health reduced from 350 to 300
Gas mine
- Gas mine activation time added (1.6 seconds)
Mistake on my part
- Added Glitch Trap enable time (1.6 seconds)
Good grenade
- Fixed an issue where goo could block the player
Mine
- Reduced my maximum player damage from 160 to 140
- Mine damage radius reduced from 4 to 3.5 meters
- Added my power-on time (1.6 seconds)
Pryo-mine
- Pyromijn switch-on time added (1.6 seconds)
RPG-7
- RPG-7's maximum player damage has been reduced from 165 to 150
- RPG-7 min player damage reduced from 90 to 80
- The RPG-7's damage radius has been reduced from 4.75 to 4.5 meters
- RPG-7's maximum damage radius has been reduced from 2.5 meters to 1.5 meters
- The scope spread of the RPG-7 increased slightly
- The RPG-7's hipfire spread increased slightly
Stun gun
- The range of the stun gun has been increased from 10 meters to 12 meters

Game Show Events
- Added a repulsor to the flying saucers in the 'Alien Invasion' event
Vegas
- Updated voltage in various buildings, for better destruction results
- Fixed an issue where payout stations would become invisible before players completed transfers

Banket
- Disallowed Deathmatch game show event in BankIt game mode
Weapons
AKM
- Minor adjustment to the AKM recoil pattern
Flamethrower
- Flamethrower fire rate increased from 160 to 170
LH1
- LH1 damage increased from 45 to 47
Melee weapons
- Fixed an issue where melee hits were not always connecting to enemy players
M11
- The damage to the M11 has been increased from 15 to 16
Riot shield
- Fixed a bug where the shield would block bullets while invisible during interactions (e.g. reviving or stealing extractions)
SA1216
- The dispersion of SA1216 pellets increased slightly
- SA1216 damage per pellet reduced from 8 to 7
Movement
Vault
- Reduced instances of unintentionally climbing on objects out of the player's view.
- Fixed an issue where players could get stuck without being able to provide input
Cable cars
- Prevented installation of cable cars at collection points
user interface
- Different solutions for participants' screens
- Go to the Social screen, which now hides the 'Invite to Party' button if you are not the party leader
- Added a warning to the UI that appears when players are at risk of being kicked by AFK
- Player health bars now use the team color when selected in settings
- The UI will indicate that you are 'unranked' unless you are among the top 500 in the rankings
