Pat Cummins breaks IPL record as Sunrisers Hyderabad pay $3.66MILLION for Australia captain while India’s World Cup final tormentor Travis Head is snapped up

  • Pat Cummins has been sold for a record amount at the IPL auction
  • The Australian star will play for the Sunrisers next season
  • His World Cup-winning teammate Travis Head has been arrested

Australian captain Pat Cummins became the most expensive player in IPL history after being signed by Sunrisers for 20.5 crore Indian rupees (approximately AU$3.66 million or £1.945 million).

That eclipsed the record 18.5 crore Indian rupees that Punjab Kings paid for England all-rounder Sam Curran in last year's auction.

Cummins joins Hyderabad international teammate Travis Head, the 30-year-old fast bowler who has played 42 matches in the IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals.

Hoofd broke India's hearts in the World Cup final, where his stunning knock took the match away from the hosts and ensured Australia took home the trophy in Ahmedabad.
