Diogo Dalot sent off after receiving two yellow cards for dissent in a matter of seconds as Man United fans hit out at referee for ‘joke’ decision during Liverpool draw

Man United fans were left furious with the referee after Diogo Dalot was sent off for a bizarre incident in the closing stages of Sunday's 0-0 draw against Liverpool.

The right-back was shown two yellow cards within fifteen seconds after protesting the referee's call to award a throw-in to Liverpool.

Dalot had battled for the ball with Mo Salah and replays showed his protests were justified.

The defender was furious after the call went the other way and was booked for his reaction.

He continued to express his frustration after the card and was quickly shown another one by Michael Oliver.

Liverpool's failure to score for the first time since April cost them top spot in the Premier League, while Manchester United secured a goalless draw to deny their arch-rivals a club record win.

Erik ten Hag's side succeeded where 34 previous opponents had failed, keeping out a team that finished the match with five attacking players on the pitch and Trent Alexander-Arnold as a central support point.

The visitors offered little threat of their own as their goal drought on enemy territory stretched to 507 minutes, a span of five years, but they were at least able to stem the bleeding that has seen them concede 21 times in their last five home and away games.
