Donald Trump arrived at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday evening ahead of Leon Edwards and Colby Covington's highly anticipated performance at UFC 296.

The former US president is attending his second UFC event in just over a month after heading to Madison Square Garden to watch Alex Pereira and Tom Aspinall score big wins over Jiri Prochazka and Sergei Pavlovich respectively in November.

And this weekend, Trump is in Sin City to watch one of his biggest fans challenge for the welterweight title.

American star Covington has made his personal brand inextricably linked to that of the 77-year-old and even planned to be walked out by him at the T-Mobile Arena on Saturday.

Should he beat Britain's Edwards to become welterweight champion, 'Chaos' has also confirmed that Trump will wrap the belt around his waist in the Octagon.

However, UFC President Dana White had to block the proposed move for Trump to walk him into the arena.

Covington, wearing a white suit with Trump's face on the back and signed by the ex-president, said: 'Dana wouldn't let me walk out with Trump, logistically it's too hard.

'He said there would be a hundred secret services with him and there would just be too much chaos. He comes and sits by the cage and I give him a hug before I go into the Octagon.”

Covington, who believes he was unfairly denied the title by losing twice to Kamaru Usman, compared his career to Trump's after the 77-year-old insisted he was robbed in the last election.

He continued, “It's the same path as Trump. We have been robbed of titles. We can be delayed, but not denied. The best in the world will be determined on Saturday. Donald Trump will put the belt around me if I win.

“I will make the welterweight division great again. If Trump is not re-elected, this country will be over.”
