Fans are full of praise for Jake Paul after he knocked out Andre August with a brutal uppercut in the opening round of their fight on Friday night.
Paul has been trying to rebuild his career after losing to Tommy Fury in their grudge match in February, and has failed to stop any of his opponents since ditching Tyron Woodley in their December 2021 rematch .
But he demonstrated his devastating power within the first three minutes against August in Orlando, Florida, when he followed up a yardage with a vicious uppercut that struck his opponent on the chin and sent him crashing to the canvas.
August was flat on his back and never looked like he would beat the count as Paul improved his professional record to eight wins and one loss.
Slow-motion replays circulating on social media showed how well Paul chose his shot as he dramatically turned a relatively quiet opening round in his favor, with August unable to continue.

Opinions have been divided on the YouTuber turned boxer since he shifted his focus to the squared circle, but fans couldn't help but be impressed by his one-punch knockout of a professional fighter.
“There's no denying it, that was damn beautiful from Jake Paul,” one fan admitted.
“What a clean shot,” agreed another.
“That was actually pretty good,” another fan admitted on X.
Paul has struggled to gain respect from some over the years after targeting a string of MMA fighters rather than boxers, but one person claimed he deserves credit for proving himself against August.
“He just KO'd a real boxer in the first round, what's your excuse now?” they asked.
However, Paul still has some doubters to win over.
He has previously called for a major crossover fight with super-middleweight king Canelo Alvarez, insisting he could go on and become a world champion in the sport.
One fan warned him that Canelo would have seen the uppercut coming, and suggested the Mexican superstar would have an easy time dealing with Paul.
“He pulls that uppercut from far away. Give him Canelo,” they said.
A showdown with Canelo seems far away at this stage, but a fight with YouTube rival KSI could be more realistic in 2024.
Paul accused KSI of seeking legacy views after his win against August, but the pair were finally able to settle their differences in the ring next year.
