Little nightmares 3 was initially announced in October 2021, but things have been pretty quiet since it was first discussed. After a two-year wait, the game received its first reveal trailer during Gamescom Opening Night Live in August, and we have a decent amount of information to get an idea of what this indie game will look and play like when it next releases. year.

The reveal trailer for Little nightmares 3 was shown as part of Gamescom Opening Night Live in August 2023 and offers a fairly generous look at the title's new setting, alongside the two new protagonists. Unusually, we don't revisit Mono and Six from the original Little nightmares and its sequel, but that does mean there's a brand new blank slate to build on for this game.
In the trailer we meet the two new protagonists alongside some new enemies, as well as a glimpse of several new environments to navigate through. We also got a first look at the new set of enemies, including a monstrous baby and several large, humanoid creatures.

Little Nightmares 3 story and setting
With only one trailer under our belts and not much other information in the wild, there's still a lot we don't know about Little nightmares 3. However, that one trailer hints at a surprising amount of information that we can parse from that short reveal trailer. Little nightmares is a lore-heavy game, so we expect more information to come to light as we learn more about the game's release date, but for now we have quite a piece to sink our teeth into when it comes to the story and setting of the game.
The story follows two new protagonists named Low and Alone, both of whom have different abilities that will further your experience with the game. While we don't know the backstory of these characters, we expect more to unravel as we get closer to the game's release date. Both characters are armed with a weapon unique to them, and you can first select which character you want to play as, which is a franchise.
While we don't know much about the backstory of these characters, we do know that they work together to escape the setting, and similar to how Mono and Six work in Little Nightmares 2we expect the duo to support each other when it comes to puzzle solving and possibly the combat side of the game.
Whether or not the character you choose to play will affect how the story plays out is currently unclear, but it would be a cool addition to expand the lore of Little nightmares, especially since Supermassive Games is the team behind this game. Considering how the stories flow together in both Until dawn And The quarry that Supermassive made it would be an intriguing addition to the Little nightmares series if your actions also had a butterfly effect.
In terms of attitude, Little nightmares 3 takes place in a new environment called “The Spiral”, which is described as a cluster of dystopian countries built on distorted delusions. As we get closer to the end of the year, we expect more information about the setting to be shared.
Little Nightmares 3 gameplay
Of Little nightmares 3 Being a puzzle platform horror adventure game, there is a lot to expect from the terrifying gameplay. We only briefly looked at the in-game content from the reveal trailer, but it appears to follow the same content style as the previous two games. Therefore, we expect the game to contain many traditional elements Little nightmares mechanics such as sneaking past enemies to solve puzzles in life-sized environments, alongside elements such as exciting chase scenes and platforming in different areas.
However, we expect the battle to be more prominent Little nightmares 3 as both Low and Alone are each equipped with a weapon. Players who choose to play as Low are armed with a bow and arrow, while players who choose Alone are armed with a wrench. This could indicate more instances of combat with various enemies, in addition to using these weapons for solving puzzles or quick escapes that you may need to navigate.
Exciting, Little nightmares 3 will also be the first game in the series to feature co-op play, so you don't have to complete the entire adventure solo. We expect this game to be one of the best co-op games, especially since then Little Nightmares 2 it felt like it should be multiplayer, but the feature wasn't implemented.
As a game that relies on two characters throughout its content, whether that's during puzzle solving or platforming, or even as an extra pair of hands during boss battles, multiplayer will be a huge benefit to the game. As with information about the story and setting, we expect more to emerge about what the game has to offer to differentiate itself from the last two games.
In an 18-minute playthrough published by Bandai Namco, we get our first look at what co-op will feel like. While the vast majority of this trailer takes us through an entirely new environment, we do get a sense of the puzzle-solving element of the game and how crucial teamwork will be in regards to progression. It seems that neither Low nor Alone can progress without each other, and for once it might be better to play the game with a companion rather than entirely solo.
It also appears that there will be instances in the game where you will be separated from each other to solve puzzles. Interestingly, the game doesn't use split screen and instead focuses on one character at a time when the pair is split. Without couch co-op, this is an interesting way to approach the separation, as a player essentially loses access to their character for a while, but it does reduce the risk of getting lost on the map.
