James Haskell takes a swipe at estranged wife Chloe Madeley and claims he has no money to give her in their divorce because he’s been ‘cancelled too many times’
James Haskell argued with his estranged wife Chloe Madeley and joked that she would get no money if they divorced.
The former rugby union player, 38, spoke about his marriage as he appeared in Bath on Friday for the last of a series of 17 shows from the World Cup Afterparty: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly – a live version of his rugby podcast .
Joined by podcast co-hosts Mike Tindall and Alex Payne, the athlete opened up about his relationship with Chloe – who he split from in September – saying she is unreasonable, overly critical and insensitive, and dishonest in arguments.
He went on to joke that he had hidden all this money offshore to avoid having to pay out to Chloe, 36, during their divorce, before claiming he actually had no money left for her at all because he had been canceled so many times since the split. .
James started the two-hour show with a rant about the divorce, addressing the audience by saying, “First of all, ladies and gentlemen. I see that some of you are already doing it very unnoticed. Please do not record this show. I'm in the papers enough at the moment!'

He continued, “Please don't film it, post it on social media. What happens now is that everything I say comes out of my mouth and into your own personal filters. And some of you may have had a difficult childhood, or be very easily offended.
“I don't want you to think about what I'm saying and think you're offended and then post it. Because I need the money because I'm about to lose half of it.
'It's true. At least if she (Chloe) can find it. I always forget where I put it: the Cayman Islands, Switzerland. No, I don't have a pot to pee in at the moment.'
Mike then jumped in to joke, “I love that you think you're smart enough to hide your money,” while James replied, “It's just the stuff I store under the bed.” No matter how many times I've been canceled, I don't have a pot to piss into.'
Moments later, James comes up with an anecdote about his friend Mike – who is married to Princess Anne's daughter Zara – seemingly for the sole purpose of having yet another unsubtle doll with Chloe.
He began, “Mike's personality is, as Zara told us, “annoyingly honest Mike.” He sounds like a great person, but he isn't. He comes out after eight bottles of rosé and three bottles of red wine.
“Then he basically tells you everything you've ever done wrong and where you've gone wrong, with complete disregard for any sensitivity – or everything he's ever done wrong – and is also completely out of context. And he won't be argued with, and he won't be argued with, right.'
After a brief pause for dramatic effect, James continued, “Sounds like my wife, actually.”
He then corrected himself by saying, “Actually ex-wife,” before adding, “No. It's not official yet. Don't put that in the newspaper.'
Later, James recalled a story in which he had to “meet a lawyer who's a friend of mine” before adding, “He's more of a business partner now” – a reference to the large amount of time he has recently spent on divorce. lawyers.

Chloe announced in September that she and her husband of five years had split, just days after their tumultuous relationship played out on her reality series Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair.
Last week her father Richard Madeley, 67, said he was proud of the way the couple handled their divorce.
“It's a very civilized, mature situation,” he told the Ny Breaking at Christmas on the Kenwood Light Trail in Hampstead, north London.
'We are still family. James and Chloe's split is very amicable and they get along very well.'
Of his son-in-law, he added: “He was in the house three or four nights ago for drinks, and we're all having Christmas lunch together.”
Chloe told The Sun at the same event: 'I've already booked all the adults in our family to see The Nutcracker. We'll all be celebrating Christmas together and James will be there.'
And despite the split, Chloe revealed she is planning a second series of her ITV2 reality TV show, saying: 'We've pitched it and are waiting to hear. Even though it will be mainly focused on me, everyone will still be involved, (my) parents and James, because we have a very good co-parenting relationship.”

The couple, who married in 2018, first fueled speculation about their split after Chloe emerged without her wedding ring while partying with friends – shortly after James was pictured chatting to a mystery blonde outside a London nightclub.
Chloe confirmed she had split from her husband James in a joint statement released in October.
In a joint update shared on Instagram, the couple who starred in their own ITV reality show Chloe Madeley: A Family Affair this year, announced: 'Chloe and I have mutually decided to separate at the end of September 2023.
“We were not planning to release a statement at this time – especially while the television show was airing – but the continued speculation about our marriage has unfortunately forced our hand.”
She added: 'Other than this statement, we will not be speaking publicly about this matter and would request privacy at this time.
'Our sole focus now is on our beautiful daughter. We will continue to co-parent with nothing but love.”
James shared his own statement on Instagram, adding: 'It is with great sadness that I write this post, but unfortunately in the world we live in it has to be done.
“My priority is the happiness and safety of my daughter and Chloe. For that reason I will make no further comment.”
Last month, Chloe spoke publicly about her divorce for the first time, with the television personality reflecting on the end of their five-year marriage after the subject was broached by a fan on social media.
She later talked further about the breakup and how she finally felt 'happy' again after a difficult time.
Recently speaking exclusively to MailOnline, Chloe opened up more about her 'normal Christmas' plan for the sake of her daughter Bodhi.
She said: 'Christmas is going to be a real family affair, it's going to be me, my mum and dad, Bodhi and James.
“That will be nice because as much as possible I want Bodhi to have a real sense of family and togetherness at Christmas and it's important for both James and I to do that.
“We don't know how long we can keep doing this, but we will do it as long as we can.
“I want Bodhi to have not only a strong sense of father and mother, but also a strong sense of family as a unit.”
And about being single at Christmas, she added: 'People may find this hard to believe, but I'm in a really good situation.
'I think back to the times in my life where I've achieved the most in terms of my career and where I've been happiest in my personal life, and that's always been when I was single, so I'm not that nervous about the next chapter.
'I have Bodhi, who I call my 'funnel of love'. I can just direct love to her and get it back, so I feel pretty solid and safe and okay with it all.”
