Here's how to complete the 'Winter Night' quest and earn The Dawning Memento in Destiny 2

The “Winter night'quest and being Dawn memory reward are two new additions to Lot 2 with the 2023 iteration of the annual holiday event The Dawning.

To complete 'Winter Night' and earn the new event Memento, similar to the recent Festival of the Lost Memento, you'll need to engage in quite a few snowball fights and bake some cookies for everyone's favorite space grandma, Eva Levante.

In this Lot 2 guide, we'll show you how to complete 'Winter Night' quickly, how to get the Dawning Memento and how it works.

Once you have the “Cookie delivery tool' mission with Eva Levante, you can return to her to pick up the 'Winter Night' mission. To complete 'Winter Night' you need to do three things:

  • Get 75 snowball last hits
  • Receive 25 upgraded Snowball last hits
  • Give Eva a Classic Butter Cookie

Start baking Eva's favorite cookies using the Classic butter cookie recipe in your Eva's Holiday Oven. Deliver the cookies to Eva and you check that box.

The other two objectives require a bit more work. Snowballs can be found everywhere in the Netherlands Lot 2 during De Dageraad. All you have to do to spawn one is make a weapon kill on an enemy. They then have the chance to drop a snowball. Keep picking up snowballs and throwing them at other enemies to rack up the 75 required kills.

However, these snowballs start out quite weak, so it will be slow to actually kill with them at first. To increase your snowball potential, you need to spend money Dawn spirit about upgrades at Eva. Coincidentally, you can also earn upgraded Snowball last blows for the quest this way.

Collect 60 Dawning Spirit by turning in bounties and delivering cookies. (Eva's weekly bounties give 10 Dawning Spirit each, which is especially good if you have multiple characters.) Then return to Eva and purchase three Snowball upgrades: Long winter, Longer winter periodAnd Stay frosty. You'll need all three of these upgrades to progress through the final step of the quest.

Now that your snowballs have been upgraded, you can continue getting kills (the Stay Frosty Stasis Mine really helps take out groups) by launching snowballs at groups of enemies. The best way to do this is to simply go to your favorite location like Nessus or the Dreaming City and throw snowballs at groups of enemies as they appear.

Once you complete the first step of 'Winter Night', back to Eve and she will hand over the Dawning Memento.

At level 20, your weapon gains the Title Winter Nightand at level 30 you unlock the Rhyme Keepsake Shader, which is only available for use on weapons with the Dawning Memento applied. How to get more Dawning Mementos in Destiny 2

If you like the special Dawning Memento shader and title, you'll need more Dawning Mementos to apply to your weapon. To get more, the game tells you to open Gifts in return, which you get from characters when you deliver cookies to them during The Dawning. Unfortunately, additional Dawning Mementos seem to be quite rare, and we haven't been able to confirm for ourselves if they'll hit the mark. However, according to YouTuber and Destiny, it is a secret hunter Scharrel9, additional memories drop from Gifts in Return.

If you're trying to get multiple Dawning Mementos this holiday season, keep in mind that you can only keep one in your inventory at a time.
