Republicans voted today to formalize their ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden's connections to his family's shady business dealings.

Since early 2023, Republicans have been investigating Joe Biden for his alleged connections to his son Hunter's extremely lucrative, tens of millions of dollars in influence peddling scheme.

But how did Hunter get a 2.8 carat diamond from the Chinese, $83,000 a month from Ukrainians and $1 million from mysterious Romanians?

By trading on the Biden family's influential 'brand', the Republican party claims.

The estimated $40 million was raised through 20 shell companies and fake accounts created while Joe Biden was vice president, while simultaneously participating in Hunter's business conversations and dropping by for lavish dinners.

From using pseudonyms in at least 82,000 emails to discuss shady deals with Ukraine, to an alleged $10 million bribery scheme and granting Hunter access to Air Force Two flights and more, the involvement of the president at his son's affairs is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore.

Now Joe himself is at the center of the Republican-led impeachment inquiry into his alleged participation in the profitable scheme involving US foreign adversaries.

In September, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy unilaterally launched an impeachment inquiry into the Biden family's “culture of corruption,” which he said could undermine President Biden's political career.

Since then, the House Oversight, Judiciary and Ways and Means Committees have issued subpoenas to the top players involved, including Hunter Biden, James Biden and other family members, donors and business associates.

And after Hunter refused to comply with the subpoena for his closed-door testimony, Republicans began to disparage Congress' proceedings against the president's son.

Through bank records obtained by House Oversight Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., top Republicans also discovered two checks from James Biden to Joe for $200,000 and $40,000 “loan repayments.”

Comer claims the checks are proof that Joe knew about and benefited financially from his family's business dealings, and says the money is traced to China.

In addition, federal prosecutors charged Hunter on illegal weapons charges, which carry a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison.

And last week, the Justice Department filed nine new criminal charges against Hunter for allegedly spending millions on “drugs, prostitutes and exotic cars” while avoiding taxes.

President Biden has maintained his innocence and said he was never involved in his son's business dealings. And the White House has pushed back on the Republican Party-led investigation, saying it is a political and “desperate” attempt to smear Biden.

But Republicans say the administration is blocking their requests for additional information and that the formal vote on the impeachment inquiry will force them to turn over documents and take testimony.
