First official look at Nicolas Cage in new Stan Original movie The Surfer after Hollywood star filmed in small town in Western Australia
Nicolas Cage's new film The Surfer was officially announced on Tuesday.
The Stan original feature film has been teased for months after Cage, 59, was spotted filming in Western Australia earlier this year.
The Academy Award winner stars in the lead role in the psychological thriller.
The week the Australian streaming platform shared a first image of Cage in character, looking disheveled and distressed as he examined a bullet.
Directed by Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium) and written by Thomas Martin, The Surfer is an intensely nerve-wracking feature film shot on one location in Yallingup, known for its iconic beaches.

Cage plays a man who, after returning to Australia to buy back his childhood home, is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a group of local surfers who claim ownership of the remote beach of his youth.
Wounded by the gang, he challenges them and remains on the beach to demand acceptance.
As the conflict escalates, he is pushed to the edge of his sanity and his entire identity is called into question.

The Surfer is a Stan Original Film in association with CinemaPlus, which will release the film theatrically in Australia.
Cage is joined by an impressive Australian ensemble cast of Julian McMahon (Nip/Tuck, Charmed), Nicholas Cassim (Mr Inbetween), Miranda Tapsell (The Dry), Alexander Bertrand (Australian Gangster), Justin Rosniak (Last King of the Cross) , Rahel Romahn (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Finn Little (Stan Exclusive Series Yellowstone) and Charlotte Maggi (Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child on Fire).
The film is an Australian/Irish co-production and produced by Tea Shop Productions, Arenamedia, Lovely Productions and Gramercy Park Media with support from Screenwest through the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive.
