Cops hunt for Mr Big: Thai prisoner escapes after being submitted to hospital to treat dodgy penis enlargement surgery
- Thanaphat Mayod managed to escape from a Thai prison hospital
- He had to treat his infected genitals after penis enlargement surgery
- But the convict was arrested by the Thai police after just 28 hours
A prisoner recovering from penis enlargement surgery escaped from a hospital in Thailand on Saturday.
Theft inmate Thanaphat Mayod, 37, was admitted to Bang Lamung Hospital in Chonburi province on December 6 when his genitals swelled painfully due to infected penis enlargement injections.
Despite the severe swelling, Thanaphat managed to devise a daring escape plan which he executed in the early hours of December 9.
He had his wife Wasana Kuaysuwan, 30, smuggle in a pair of steel knives and used the tools to break the shackles chaining him to the hospital bed as he hid behind the curtain dividers.
With a catheter still attached to his penis, he left the seventh-floor room and was caught on CCTV stumbling through the hospital corridors unnoticed.

He then took an elevator to the ground floor and left the building through a window.
However, Thanaphat's freedom was short-lived when he was found by police just 28 hours later, on December 10, hiding under a black bag while huddled on the roof of the hospital's psychiatric ward, less than 22 meters away from the surgical department.
He was taken to the emergency room because he was in a bad condition, with aching pain coming from his manhood, where silicone filler had been injected.
The runaway patient told authorities he was driven to break out of jail “because he missed his family.”
He said: “I had the penis enlargement surgery before I went to prison. It got infected because I couldn't take care of it. I just saw the opportunity to escape from the hospital because I wanted to see my wife again.'

He said he fled behind the building and climbed a utility pole to the top of the psychiatric ward after a security guard spotted him.

Officials said Thanaphat will be charged with attempting to escape from prison, while his wife Wasana was held for helping a prisoner escape.
Meanwhile, Sahakarn Petchanarin, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Acting Director General of the Ministry of Corrections, said:
'A committee has been set up to investigate the facts. We are going to investigate how the prisoner was able to escape.
“As for the two guards guarding the prisoner, they are also under investigation and we expect the results to be announced soon.
“The work of both men will continue as normal until the results are known.”
