Pete Wicks has explained to fans why his face looked 'so different' as he greeted winner Sam Thompson on the I'm A Celebrity bridge on Sunday.

Pete, 35, took to Instagram on Monday and shut down the rumors when he confirmed he had a “horrific reaction to mosquito bites.”

The former TOWIE star wrote: 'You will also be happy to know that my face has returned to normal after the horrific reaction I had to the mosquito bites.

“They saw my face and thought it was an all-you-can-eat buffet.”

Sam promptly jumped into the arms of runner-up Tony Bellew as hosts Ant and Dec announced the results, before admitting he was 'blown away' by the result.

He said: 'I'm really overwhelmed, I didn't even think I would be invited to the show. I don't know what to say.'

When asked what he had to say to those who voted for him, he tearfully said: “I'm so grateful, thank you so much. I've been dreaming of doing this show for years and you've made a childhood dream come true.'

Tony wasn't too disappointed to finish second as he felt his new friend was a more than worthy winner.

He said, 'Ten days ago I knew. When I first met him, I knew I had never met anyone like him before… He deserves it more than anything and I couldn't be happier.”

Sam had been open about being a super fan of the show, admitting it was 'a hundred times' better than he expected.

In an interview with Tony prior to the result, he was asked if it had met his expectations and said: 'It did so much more, I've never been so shocked in my life, times 100 everything, the little moments are the best moments too.

'My favorite time in the whole jungle was when Snake Rock came back and we had the whole family together again…

'The atmosphere was so great and I thought, “I don't think I've ever been as happy as I am now.”

Meanwhile, Tony admitted he had found life in the camp 'really, really difficult' and was grateful for his friendships with Sam and JLS singer Marvin Humes.

He said: 'You are alone with your own thoughts and my mind is not the best, it was not easy. It was very difficult and you think to yourself, “What am I doing here?”

“I definitely think I was put here to be with Sam and get to know him, Marvin was a big part of it too, I can't believe he's not here.

'Everyone was great… I know this is called I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! but I'm not one of them, a celebrity, and no one felt like a celebrity, they were just normal.

“It's the first time in my life I've sat with a bunch of strangers and just thought, 'You're all healthy people.'
