Now dozens of others have commented on the screenplay and created their own skits based on the story – with #thelampstory racking up more than 75.3 million views on TikTok in recent weeks.

The original post, which has since been deleted, explained how the man had been attacked by a footballer, leaving him unconscious in the middle of the road.
He said that “while I was on the ground I was living a different life” before giving further details about his experiences.
'I met an amazing young lady, she made my heart skip a beat and my face turn red, I chased her for months and sent a few jerk boyfriends before I finally won her over, after two years we got married and almost immediately she bore me a daughter.
“I had a great job and my wife didn't have to work outside the home. When my daughter was two, my wife gave me a son.
'My son was the joy of my life. I walked into his room every morning before I went to work and adored him and my daughter.”
But the post continued: “One day, while sitting on the couch, I noticed that the perspective of the lamp was strange, as if it were upside down. It was still in 3D, but… just… wrong.
'I was transfixed, I couldn't look away from it. I kept staring at it all night, I didn't go to work the next morning, there was just something wrong with that lamp.
'I stopped eating, at first I only left the couch to go to the toilet, but soon I stopped doing that too because I no longer ate or drank.
The post was shared many years ago but was flooded with comments at the time, as one person wrote: 'Dear God, that's haunting. I… wow'
Now dozens of others have commented on the screenplay and created their own skits based on the story
'I stared at the damn lamp for three days before my wife really started to worry. She sent for someone to talk to me. By then my consciousness broke down and my wife panicked.'
The man explained, “She took the kids to her mother's house right before I had my epiphany…the lamp isn't real…the house isn't real, my wife, my kids…none of it all of that is real…the last ten years of my life aren't fucking real!'
Elaborating further on what he saw at the time, he said: 'The lamp started to get wider and deeper, it was still inverted dimensions, it took over my entire perspective and all I could see was red, I heard voices, screams , all kinds of strange noises and I became aware of pain… a lot of pain…
'The first words I said were: “I'm missing teeth” and opened my eyes. I was lying on my back on the sidewalk surrounded by people I didn't know, many were panicking, I was completely confused.'
After regaining consciousness and returning to the immediate aftermath of the incident, the man was helped to the sidewalk by a police officer before being taken to hospital for scans and treatment.
One user went further and explained their own error in the matrix, writing: 'My equivalent of the Reddit lamp story is this spot on my carpet'
He candidly added: 'I went through about three years of terrible depression, grieving the loss of my wife and children and dealing with the knowledge that they never existed, I feared I was going crazy because I would cry myself to sleep. hoping I would see her in my dreams.
'I never did, but sometimes I see my son, usually just a glimpse out of my field of vision. He's constantly five years old and I can never hear what he's saying.'

Another added: 'That's really depressing and messed up. Do you think I can say sorry for your loss, even if it was never real?”
And a third said: 'That was a great story.
The hashtag 'lampstory' has been viewed more than 75.3 million times on TikTok to date, as users rushed to share their own skits
'The brain can do amazing things, making everyone's reality subjective.
'In a sense, it almost really happened, because so much of your 'real world' is just an interpretation of your brain.
“So in a way I'm sorry for the loss of your wife and children.”
But the story has captivated audiences on TikTok in recent days, as many rushed to create their own skits based on the story.
One user went further and explained their own error in the matrix, writing, “My equivalent of the Reddit lamp story is this spot on my carpet that is different in texture and looks blurry, but literally doesn't show up on camera. try not to think about it or look at it.”
