Former Tottenham and England star Jermaine Jenas will become the new host of Formula E coverage after the series struck a deal to broadcast races on TNT Sports next season.

The ex-midfielder will be joined by regular Formula E presenter Nicki Shields and Radzi Chinyanganya as part of a new team, starting with the first race in Mexico City on January 13.

Jenas said he had developed a real love affair with the sport since hanging up his boots and was relishing the 'incredible' opportunity.

β€œSince I retired from football I never thought I would find a sport I loved so much, but Formula E is a sport like no other,” he said.

β€œI couldn't be more excited to take on this incredible presenting role and travel the world with such amazing teams. Being in front of the camera and sharing that energy and action with viewers is a whole new challenge and adrenaline rush for me and I'm really looking forward to it.”

Formula E CEO Jeff Dodds said the arrival of Jenas has helped TNT provide a 'great' line-up of presenters and experts from the sport to give fans the best possible experience.

'This is incredible news for sports fans in the UK who already watch premium live sport on TNT Sports. From next month they can enjoy the new thrill of Formula E racing, the most competitive motorsport on TV.

'For existing Formula E fans, we are delighted to present TNT Sports as the new home of Formula E in Great Britain. With veteran professional athlete and broadcaster Jermaine Jenas leading our stellar lineup of expert presenters to bring viewers his original perspective, we can't wait to get started in Mexico City.”

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will feature 17 races in Season 10, which fans can watch on both TNT Sports and Discovery+ in what is being billed as the biggest season in the sport's history.
