Taylor Swift has been named TIME's Person of the Year.

The pop megastar, whose massive tour this year earned her billionaire status, beat the likes of Vladimir Putin, Barbie, King Charles and Sam Altman, who were shortlisted for the honour.

Over the past 96 years, the tradition has seen a number of controversial figures, including Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin and Ayatollah Khomeini.
