Bournemouth have confirmed that Darren Randolph is recovering after the goalkeeper was taken off on a stretcher after falling unwell before a development team match.

The veteran goalkeeper was reportedly surrounded by medics and taken away during the warm-up before Tuesday's Professional Development League match with Ipswich.

Randolph would start the match in goal for the Cherries development team.

The 36-year-old reportedly complained of feeling unwell, which led to medical treatment and a 10-minute delay in the match's kick-off at the Vitality Stadium.

Alan Connell, head coach of Bournemouth's development team, confirmed after the match that Randolph was feeling 'much better', despite the disturbing sight of the goalkeeper being taken off on a stretcher.

“Darren Randolph felt unwell during warm-up and required medical attention,” Connell said.

'The whole medical team was immediately on hand to help him, which was great.

'Glad that he is back now, feeling much better and left the stadium of his own accord.

'We are very happy with the result.

It's a shame he didn't play tonight, but of course his health is the most important thing.'

The Bournemouth Echo reported that Randolph had passed all medical checks, with the goalkeeper being cleared to leave the stadium of his own accord.

Cameron Plain replaced Randolph in the starting XI for the development squad match, which Ipswich won 3–1 at the Vitality Stadium.

Randolph is yet to start for Bournemouth's first team since being signed as cover by West Ham last January.

The Republic of Ireland international serves as a backup for Neto and Ionuț Radu.
