I’ve banned my ‘fat’ friend from borrowing my clothes. She’s ruined $680 worth of my dresses

A woman has come under fire for calling her friend “fat” and banning her from ever borrowing clothes again after the other woman damaged $680 worth of outfits.

Sophie, 31, was in the middle of a move and chose to store some of her clothes and shoes at her friend Amelia's house to save on storage costs.

Amelia took the opportunity to 'borrow' some of the expensive and pricey items without Sophie's permission, permanently damaging the outfits due to her 'curvy' figure.

Sophie revealed she is 183cm tall and has 'no boobs and no curves' – while Sophie is 157cm tall and 'quite curvy with big boobs'.

“I went over to thank her with a candle, but she told me she had 'borrowed a bit' one of my blouses and I noticed she had stretched it quite a bit,” Sophie wrote on Reddit.

She added: 'When I got to my new place I noticed that many of my clothes were stretched and, given the fabric of some, [extremely] damaged.

“I confronted [Amelia] about it, and she said that since she was housing my stuff for free, it was basically a given that she could borrow my clothes.

'She then accused me of calling her fat, even though I only pointed out that we have very different body types and what suits me may not suit her.'

Devastated by the loss of her precious clothes, Sophie demanded that her friend give her some money to replace the items, but the other woman refused.

'Our friends are all divided here. Most say I chose clothes over her feelings, but I told her she can never borrow my clothes again.”

Many called out Sophie for being 'rude' and putting clothes over her friendship.

“Charging for them when she kept them free is a gray area that leans towards being a jerk,” one person said. “Is the $300 worth your friendship? If not, you should probably let it go and never let her touch your things again.”

'She did you a big favor by putting your things in storage. I would move on unless you don't care about this friendship,” said another.

“She shouldn't have borrowed your clothes, of course, but you could have just told her that you don't like lending your clothes to people, so please don't do that again.” Your problem was that you explained it, which hurt her feelings,” one woman explained.

But others claimed Sophie had done nothing wrong.

'Storing clothes is not permission to borrow clothes. What the hell is she thinking? And permission to borrow is not permission to damage. You can feel if you are stretching things. She makes silly excuses,” one woman said.

“She twists things to get away with destroying your property. She's selfish and that's all,” another stated.
