Fortnite’s storm circles are getting nerfed because they’re too fast
Epic Games has the speed of Fortnite's storm circles after player feedback.
Chapter 5 Season 1: Underground has just launched and introduces a number of new updates to the battle royale, including new sights to explore, an island-wide train, five bosses and of course Peter Griffin from Family man.
As usual, the season also came with tweaks to the mechanics, such as new movement animations and other quality of life changes. However, players have noticed that the game's storm circle seems to be much faster than usual.
About Reddit, one user asked, “What's with the storm circling this chapter?” I then explain that “it feels like they are much faster than previous chapters. In the early game you are already running from the storm in most matches, while in other seasons that only really happened in the late game.”
The user adds that at the end of a recent match, during their final battle, a circle “was created so far away from the circle we all fought in that none of us could even get there before dying.”
It appears the sentiment is not isolated, as other players have experienced the same issue, as seen in a separate Reddit after.
Fortunately, Epic is aware of the issue and has already implemented a balance update so that storm circles take longer to approach one and two players.
“We've heard feedback from players saying that it is harder to escape the storm since the launch of Chapter 5, Season 1, so we decided to make some balance adjustments: it now takes 20 seconds longer to complete Storm Circles one and two to close,” Fortnite Status account explained in a recent Twitter after.
“We will continue to monitor our Storm data and make additional changes as necessary.”
