Sasha Obama braves the wet and cold New York weather in a CROP TOP – while sister Malia hides under a leather trench coat – as siblings enjoy rainy day lunch date with friends

Malia and Sasha Obama probably missed the Los Angeles sun on Sunday as they braved the cold and gloomy weather in New York City while out and about with friends.

The sisters, who live on the West Coast, were woefully unprepared for the rainy day when they headed to Anton's, a cozy cafe and wine bar in the West Village.

They were seen leaving the expensive restaurant without umbrellas with some of their friends, who were all dressed in sweatpants and comfortable shoes.

Sasha, 22, ignored the humid chill in the air as she stepped out in a white cropped tank top and low-cut black sweatpants, leaving her belly button piercing visible.

She completed the unusual look with a maroon shoulder bag, black and neon yellow New Balance sneakers, bright pink socks and sunglasses.

Malia, 25, was much more bundled up in a gray sweater, faded baggy jeans and black lug-sole boots, which were perfect for walking through puddles.

Although her younger sister didn't seem bothered by the rain, she tried to stay dry by draping a black leather trench coat over her head and shoulders, hiding most of her face from view.

The former first daughters and their friends could easily have passed for students in their cozy attire.

They smiled and laughed as they made the most of the rainy day in Manhattan.

The outing comes just over a month after Sasha was seen buying a stack of moving boxes in Los Angeles.

The youngest daughter of former President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama transferred from the University of Michigan to the University of Southern California last year to complete her studies.

Sasha shares an apartment with her screenwriter sister Malia, but she has not made her plans public since graduating last May with a bachelor's degree in sociology.

She hinted at an impending move when she was seen lugging a handful of boxes from a local UPS store by herself in October.

There were numerous possible reasons why she bought moving boxes; she could move to another city, get her own house or move into a new apartment with her sister.

Sasha followed in Malia's footsteps when she moved to LA last year.

Her older sister had moved to the West Coast to pursue a career as a screenwriter after graduating from Harvard University in 2021.

Malia scored a lucrative writing position for Donald Glover's Amazon show, Swarm, after previously working as an intern on Lena Dunham's HBO series Girls in 2015 and at The Weinstein Company in 2017.

The Obama sisters are often spotted in LA – both together and separately.

Last year, their mother said during an appearance on the Today show that her daughters are “best friends.”

Michelle recalled inviting her and her husband to their apartment for drinks during a recent visit as they reflected on what it was like to watch them navigate adulthood.

“We wanted to take them out to dinner and they said, 'Why don't you come to our place for a cocktail?' she said. “And we were like, “Okay, let's see what this is going to be like.”

“The martinis were a little weak,” she admitted. “I don't think they really knew what it was.”

Michelle also shared her joy at her daughters' uncharacteristic insistence on using coasters in their apartment.

“When we got the glasses, they said, 'Use a coaster,' and I said, 'You never used a coaster in my house,'” she said. “So if it's your stuff, will you take care of it?”
