Aaron Rodgers is off the Jets injured reserve and can train with his team again – just 79 days after he tore his Achilles tendon against the Buffalo Bills on September 11.
Coach Robert Saleh confirmed the news Wednesday — 79 days after the quarterback suffered the injury when he was sacked by Leonard Floyd in the worst possible debut for his new team.
“This is not so much preparation to play, but more of progress in his rehabilitation,” Saleh said, confirming doctors are happy Rodgers is speeding up his recovery.
‘He has already sacrificed so much for the organization. It’s a testament to who he is as a person.
“Instead of throwing to a strength and conditioning coach, he can throw to his teammates.

Rodgers, 39, tore his Achilles tendon on September 11 – just minutes after making his debut with the New York Jets
Rodgers has admitted he thought his career might be over when the injury struck
‘We have the impression that he will be back in 24 years, whatever happens.
‘What Aaron will do in practice, with regard to certain exercises, does not entail any additional risk. There are certain things he has been given permission to do that we will allow him to do.”
The Jets are in the midst of a poor run of form and are 4-7 this season with their playoff hopes fading.
It was reported last weekend that Rodgers could be targeting a return for the Christmas Eve match against Washington Commanders.
But the 39-year-old could reconsider returning to the NFL itself so soon if the Jets can’t make the playoffs.
‘It’s about health first and then I can play,’ ‘are we alive for the play-offs?” second?’ Rodgers said this week during his appearance with Pat McAfee.
“I’m getting better every week,” he said. “Being able to not travel to Buffalo probably helped me the most, just because I was able to recuperate for those 10 days straight without having to travel. And as nice as it is to see the boys, it also brings me back to rehab a little bit.”
They are back in action this weekend at the MetLife, facing the Atlanta Falcons. Victory is essential to keep the play-off hopes alive.

Rodgers has admitted he feared his career would be over when he was injured in his Jets debut.
He recently told McAfee: “I think immediately after the injury there is a thought that this is it. I’m ready.
“I can’t go through this rehab, I’m too old for this shit. And I searched and prayed a lot that night and when I woke up in the morning I had the feeling of ”no, I’ll be back”.
“I’m going to do this again, I’m going to climb the mountain again and I’m grateful to all the people who reached out, the people who prayed for me, supported me, sent me nice messages, checked on me. It was really special.’
