Ivan Toney has called Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes ‘cringey’ after tweeting on Sunday after the Gunners win over Brentford.
Arsenal took a 3-0 win to return to the top of the Premier League after goals from William Saliba, Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira gave Mikel Arteta a comfortable three points.
It was a markedly different result from last season, when Brentford won 2-0 in their first-ever Premier League game.

After that win, Toney had tweeted ‘Nice kick with the boys’, with Arteta showing the message to his players ahead of the reverse match at the Emirates Stadium.
It had the desired effect as Arsenal won 2-1, Alexandre Lacazette posted the exact same sentence to mock Toney’s earlier tweet.
Gabriel followed suit after the weekend’s win and posted again ‘Nice kick with the boys’ – but this time Toney didn’t see the funny side.

Arsenal defender Magalhaes couldn’t help but dig a little at Brentford after the 3-0 win
“I think one time was funny, the second time was a little cringey,” he joked. ‘I bit my tongue, I wanted answers and wanted to nibble.
“But fair play to them, they’re a different Arsenal side to what we’ve played before.”
Toney hopes to be able to tweet about his England debut after he got his first call-up after a good start to the campaign with the Bees.
England travel to Milan to play Italy in the Nations League on Friday, before hosting Germany at Wembley three days later.

Arteta projected the tweet onto a whiteboard in Arsenal’s dressing room before the reverse match in February
“So surreal,” Toney added when asked what it felt like to be in and around the squad preparing for the games.
“I feel like I’m here at the top of England, it’s such a privilege and hugely important for me and my family and also for my club.
“Not only did I do this, it’s everyone around me who has played a big part.”
