Ex-Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson was part of a group of senior staff who reportedly told an Indigenous player to pressure his partner into ending her pregnancy and did everything he could to separate First Nations stars from their loved ones, will reveal a review commissioned by the club.
Associates implicated in the allegations also include his former Clarkson assistant Chris Fagan, now the Brisbane Lions coach, according to a report from the ABC.

The report’s most damning claim is that a player who was “elated” by the news of his partner’s pregnancy was urged by a group of coaches, including Clarkson and Fagan, to tell her to abort the child and give it up. to make.
“Clarkson just bent over me and demanded that I get rid of my unborn child and partner,” claimed the player, who is referred to only as “Ian” in the report.
“I was then manipulated and convinced to remove my SIM card from my phone so that there was no contact between my family and me.
“He told me to kill my unborn child.”
It is said that Ian’s partner Amy was in deep shock when she heard the news.
“He could barely pronounce the words and he seemed to be crying, and he was quick to tell us to end the pregnancy and end the relationship,” she said in the report.
“I will never forget that phone call or the heartbreak I felt at that moment. I was numb on the spot, completely numb from what I’d just heard Ian say.’
The assessment was given to Hawthorn’s management two weeks ago and the club released the following statement on Wednesday morning.
Earlier this year, the Hawthorn Football Club engaged outside First Nations advisers to work with current and former First Nations players and staff to learn more about their experience at the club.
“This important work has raised disturbing historical allegations that require further investigation. Upon learning of these allegations, the club immediately engaged AFL Integrity as appropriate.”
