Fans couldn’t help but laugh at Erling Haaland’s post-match interview following Manchester City’s 2-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.

The Norwegian striker scored twice on his Premier League debut to silence his critics after receiving criticism for his performance in the Community Shield last weekend.

However, it was Haaland’s post-match interview that left fans in stitches. The £51m summer signing swore live on TV before swearing again when he realised what he had done.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Haaland said: ‘It was a good start and it’s nothing much else to say. It was a good start.

‘It’s good to get minutes in the legs. it’s still early in the season. We have to keep going. As expected we saw the potential against Bayern, against Liverpool it was a bit down.’

When asked whether he was disappointed to have walked away with a brace rather than a hat-trick, Haaland said: ‘It could have been more today.

‘I could have walked away with the hat-trick, it’s a bit s*** but that’s how it is. It’s about the connections we do everyday, we get better at this and this will come.’

The post-match interview asked Halaand to watch his language – to which the Norwegian responded by saying ‘Ah s*** sorry, I’m not soo good at the language in this country’.

The 22-year-old striker was then asked about how he felt taking City’s penalty on Sunday afternoon.

He said: ‘Uh yeh [I was taking the penalty] It was some good celebrations so yeh I’m happy. He saw it that’s good he saw both goals.

‘It’s a big moment for me to debut in this competition. We have to keep going. Now it’s almost 30 minutes since I scored the last goal so I have to keep going.’

Reporter: After the final whistle you and the whole team-mates went to the south stand, the famous yellow wall, which was empty today of course, why did you do that?

Haaland: Why not?

Reporter: Is it a kind of message you want to send out?

Haaland: Yes.

Reporter: Would you tell us the message?

Haaland: To my fans. To our fans.

Reporter: They are everything for you and for Borussia Dortmund?

Haaland: It is.

Reporter: Thanks a lot, it was a pleasure to talk to you.

Haaland: Thank you.

This is not the first time Halaand has made the headlines following a post-match interview.

Haaland is known for being a man of very few words and demonstrated that characteristic following Borussia Dortmund’s 4-0 victory over Schalke in May 2020.

The interview lasted a total of 26 seconds – with Halaand saying just 11 words before walking away from the conversation.

The 19-year-old starlet at the time made it clear he wasn’t in the mood for talking by accompanying his replies with an unimpressed raise of the eyebrow.

The interview began by asking why the Dortmund players decided to clap the ‘Yellow Wall’ and perform their traditional celebration, despite Signal Iduna Park being empty.

Haaland replied: ‘Why not?’ before accompanying his blunt reply with a raise of the eyebrow.

Following a moment of awkward silence, the interviewer asked if the starlet was looking to send a message to the Bundesliga fans.

Haaland confirmed he was, before begrudging saying: The message was to my fans, to Dortmund’s fans,’ as the reporter probed further.

The Norwegian snubbed the final question – They are everything for you and for Borussia Dortmund? – with a simply ‘It is’ before darting off to avoid another question.
