New York woman who pays just $500-a-month to live in a TINY apartment she found on Airbnb reveals the space-saving hacks she uses to fit into compact space – including turning a cupboard into a kitchen and washing her dishes in a BUCKET
A young woman has shown off her tiny New York City apartment and revealed how she washed her dishes in a bucket because she didn’t have a sink.
Egypt Mayo, 22, was paying $500 a month for her Staten Island studio apartment when she was visited by TikTok sensation Caleb Simpson.
Caleb’s content focuses on visiting people’s homes to see how they live – and his content is so popular that he’s even been invited to the abodes of some famous faces, including Bobbi Brown, Barbara Cochran and Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe’s son Deacon.
He visited Egypt in October 2022, but the video has since resurfaced online.

In the clip, Caleb appears to stop Egypt in the middle of the street and begins with his signature introduction: “How much do you pay for rent in New York?”
Egypt responds with “$500,” with the TikTok creator then asking if he can tour her apartment, which she agrees to.
It provides a bird’s eye view of her small studio decked out in shades of pink as the tenant says, “Welcome to my apartment.”
To divide the room, she has a curtain rod that separates her sleeping area and her living area.
At the back you can just see her bathroom with a shower and a sink.
“I didn’t expect this at all,” says an incredulous Caleb, while Egypt adds, “It’s really pink.”
‘It’s so pink. This is incredible,” the TikTok creator responded.
As the tour begins, Caleb gestures to some hooks and asks, “Do you hang your pots and pans here?”

Egypt then reveals that she has converted her closet into her cooking space – with the shelves stocked with pantry staples, a toaster oven and what appears to be a small refrigerator.
“Yes, this is the kitchen here,” Egypt shares the living space, gesturing to a fold-out table and a bright pink chair with another surface on which to prepare her food.
She keeps her pan lids and other cooking utensils in a plastic container.

“And I do the dishes in this bucket in the shower,” she adds, reaching for a gray plastic tub on the top shelf.
As for her clothes, they hang on a rack across from the kitchen.
Caleb also cuts to a stuffed pig sitting on her bed and says, “This is amazing.”
The pink theme continues in the bathroom, with Egypt decorating her shower with a strawberry print curtain and a fuchsia non-slip mat
Even her toilet seat is pink, as is her sink cabinet, and there is a fluffy pink bath mat on the floor
Next, the Egyptian black and white cat Alaska is seen jumping around the bathroom, from the medicine cabinet to the top of the air conditioner
At the end of the tour, Caleb tests her bed and gives it a ‘solid’ six out of ten

As for how she came across the apartment, Egypt revealed that she saw the studio on Airbnb and asked the owner if he would rent it to her, and he said yes.
Since Caleb’s video came out, it looks like she’s moved to a new place and is about to welcome a new baby.
