Dolphins to sign Jason Pierre-Paul from Saints’ practice squad with Miami targeting the free-agent pass-rusher as a replacement for Jaelan Phillips

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Miami Dolphins will sign veteran pass rusher Jason Pierre-Paul from the New Orleans Saints practice squad.

Pierre-Paul is expected to fill the void left after outside linebacker Jalen Phillips suffered a torn Achilles tendon.

The 34-year-old South Florida native last played for the Baltimore Ravens last season.

During his lone season with the Ravens, Pierre-Paul recorded 26 tackles, three sacks and an interception over the course of 14 appearances.

Leading up to the game, he had collected 5.5 sacks and 39 tackles all season and was putting in a solid performance against the New York Jets before suffering the injury.

The Dolphins originally selected Phillips in the first round of the 2021 draft with the No. 18 overall pick.
