A pro-Palestinian supporter has been knocked to the ground by police during a huge rugby tackle.

The protester allegedly threw a bottle at a police officer during a heated rally at Auckland Harbor in New Zealand on Thursday and then walked away before returning to the location.

Footage shows the officer rushing at the protester, forcefully lifting him into the air and slamming him to the ground.

Onlookers are heard screaming in horror as the officer holds the man on the sidewalk, twisting his arms behind his back as he goes to handcuff him.

Officers then barricade around the pair and push away angry onlookers.

A minor scuffle ensued, with protesters shouting claims of “police brutality.” NZ Herald reported.
