A former Texas college football star and his two children were killed in a car crash while traveling to visit family for Thanksgiving.

Zach Muckleroy died Wednesday along with 12-year-old son Judson and 9-year-old daughter Lindsey after a three-car collision along Highway 281, according to Fox 4.

His wife Lauren survived the crash and was taken to hospital in critical condition. She is said to be “aware that she has lost her family.”

A fourth victim died in the horror crash but has yet to be named.

Muckleroy’s family business Muckleroy and Falls Construction confirmed his death in a statement on Facebook, saying it was “heartbroken.”

“Zach had charisma and an uncanny ability to light up any room he entered,” Muckleroy’s company wrote.

“He had a charitable heart that had a lasting impact on the Fort Worth community. He cherished his family and was a proud alumni of TCU.”

According to his LinkedIn page, the former college football player took over as CEO of the family business three years ago.

A vigil for the crash victims was held Friday evening at University Christian Church in Fort Worth, attended by hundreds of people.

Senior Minister Russ Peterman said he has been informed of Lauren’s condition since the crash and that she has undergone multiple surgeries and woke up.

‘She is aware that she has lost her family. You can only imagine how difficult that must be,” he said.

He added that generations of the Muckleroy family had attended his church over the years.

“Zach was not only a member of the congregation, but also a friend. I love that family. Those kids are great. Lauren is a fighter,” Pastor Peterman said.

He asked church members to pray for the family, adding, “This gracious family is now forced to deal with the most tragic, unimaginable situation.”

Former Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price is close friends with Muckleroy’s parents and shared memories of him as a child at the vigil.

“We were all in Sunday school together,” she said. ‘It’s unbelievable. The Muckleroys are just pillars of our community and great Christian people, great family people, great business people.”

He graduated from Texas Christian University in 2002 with a degree in Accounting and Finance with a real estate concentration.

Muckleroy played for the college football team in 1998.
