Russian actress is killed in Ukrainian air strike while performing for Putin’s troops – 25 of whom also die in attack
A Russian actress was killed in a Ukrainian airstrike while performing for Putin’s forces in the occupied Donetsk region.
Polina Menshikh, 40, died in the attack along with at least 25 Marines during a concert marking Russia’s annual Missile Forces and Artillery Day on Sunday, reports said.
The video was captured as a Ukrainian HIMARS attack hit a concert hall in the village of Kumachovo, some 60 kilometers from the front line, wounding 100 people.
In the clip, Menshikh is seen playing guitar and singing to Russian soldiers when the room begins to shake. Suddenly the video goes black.
Russia’s investigative committee announced a criminal investigation into the attack, which they acknowledged “killed a civilian.” The Ukrainian army called it a ‘reckoning’.
Russia immediately covered up a news blackout on troop losses from the HIMARS attack, reports claim.

The Russian news agency TASS reported the casualties on Sunday without commenting on troop losses.
A report read: ‘A woman died in the village of Kumachovo in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) as a result of shelling by Ukrainian forces, the DPR’s mission to the Joint Control and Coordination Center (JCCC) for issues related to the war crimes of Ukraine. said Sunday.
“According to reports of casualties at 9:30 PM Moscow time (6:30 PM GMT), a woman was killed in the village of Kumachovo,” the report said, adding that Ukrainian forces fired five projectiles from multiple launch missile systems at the village.”
Ukraine acknowledged the attack as revenge for a devastating Russian attack during an awards ceremony in Ukraine earlier this month.
Commander of the Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance unit Birds of Magyar, Robert Brovdi, said Kiev’s forces had attacked the Russian Marines’ 810th Separate Brigade in “revenge against the 128th Brigade.”
He was referring to Russia’s Nov. 4 attack during an awards ceremony near the front line on Ukrainian Artillery Day, in which at least 20 soldiers of the 128th were killed and many wounded by a Kh-59 hit.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called it “a preventable tragedy” and a criminal investigation was launched.
He claimed that at least 25 Russian marines had been killed and more than 100 wounded in Sunday’s retaliatory attack.
The losses of the command staff were classified by a Russian military commission that arrived on the scene, he said.
Obituaries would appear soon in Sevastopol, he said, where the Russian 810th is based.
Portal, a St. Petersburg-based theater studio, also said an upcoming performance of a play she previously directed would be dedicated to her memory.

Russian war bloggers erupted in anger at the news of the strike in Kumachovo.
The Telegram channel’s military informant, loyal to Putin, lashed out at the number of “unlearned idiots” of the Russian commanders, who did not expect the Ukrainians to retaliate when the troops celebrated their Artillery Day.
‘The building where the show event was held was only 60 kilometers (37 miles) from the front line.
‘The result is predictable: the enemy struck with HIMARS, including the Russian actress Polina Menshikh, who was performing at the time, and who died.
“Almost two years of war, and the uneducated idiots still don’t know what to do and what not to do.”
The channel criticized the decision to organize a concert for soldiers so close to the front line.
