Family of missing Washington couple Karen and Davido Koep sob in court as tenant Timothy Burke they ‘planned to evict’ is charged with murder – while friend screams at him to tell them where bodies are hidden
- Timothy Burke, 45, is accused of murdering chiropractor Karen Koep and her husband Davido and hiding their bodies, which have not yet been found
- The couple’s devastated family and friends were seen crying during Burke’s bail hearing on Monday
- Prosecutors revealed the ‘amount of blood’ found at the crime scene was ‘unsurvivable’ for the missing couple
The family of a missing Washington couple broke down in tears in court Monday after learning their loved ones had been brutally murdered by their tenant.
Timothy Burke, 45, is accused of murdering chiropractor Karen Koep and her husband, Davido, and concealing their bodies.
At Thurston County Court, the victim’s two sons and their wives were seen wiping away tears and comforting each other as prosecutor Jennifer Lord said “the amount of blood that was in the house was insurmountable.”
“Furthermore, blood was found in both Mr. Burke’s vehicle and Ms. (Koep’s) vehicle,” Lord said during this week’s bail hearing.
The scene was discovered by officers who visited the couple’s Lacey home to conduct a welfare check after they disappeared on November 10.

Court documents filed Monday say responding detectives found large pools of blood at the couple’s home, along with signs that someone had tried to clean it up.
The couple’s bodies have not yet been found and a family friend was heard shouting from the gallery: “Tell him to give the family some closure and tell them where the bodies are.”
According to court documents, Burke was a tenant living on an Olympia property that Davido owned among several other properties.
Investigators found “very negative” emails from Burke to Davido.
A close friend told investigators that Davido was preparing to deport Burke.
“I think this was definitely a dispute, a tenant dispute. They own real estate and he was a tenant,” Pauline Dutton, Koep’s sister, told KOMO News.
Prosecutors said their strongest evidence is that shell casings from Burke’s .45-caliber weapon were found in the couple’s home.
Authorities believe the couple was shot and their bodies were then loaded into the trunk of their car.

Court documents say officers at the couple’s home found a blood trail to the garage “that would be consistent with where the trunk of the car would be.”
The couple’s silver 2015 Toyota Yaris was found abandoned five miles away at the Chehalis Western Trailhead in East Olympia, a popular starting point for hikers, on the same day blood was found at their home.
“Officers responded to the Lake Forest Development residence and discovered that the man and woman were missing and the circumstance surrounding their disappearance is suspicious,” the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement last week.
“The couple’s vehicle was missing from the residence and was later found by police near 67th Avenue SE and Ranier Road SE.”
Local TV station KING 5 Seattle reported that police initially arrested a suspect near the O’Reilly Autoparts store in the city’s northeast, but he was later released without charges.
Koep was quickly reported missing after she failed to show up for work at her successful practice on 6th Avenue SE.
One patient described her as a “miracle worker,” while another said she was the “most caring person I know.”
“Karen was more than a healer,” added Phil Jasperson, “she inspired me to make big changes in my life. I can’t believe this happened.’
