Jenna Bush Hager admits she ‘broke’ her rule and put up Christmas decorations BEFORE Thanksgiving as she proudly shows off DIY holiday decor she made – after taking inspiration from Joanna Gaines
Thanksgiving is still a few days away, but Jenna Bush Hager has already got her Christmas tree set up and decorated for the holidays.
The Today host, 41, admitted on the show Monday that she “broke” her rule of not putting up her tree until after Thanksgiving, but she was partly inspired to start early because “Whole Foods was having a sale.”
“I decorated our mantel. There’s our tree,” she told her cohost Hoda Kotb as photos of her holiday decor appeared on the screen.
Bush Hager explained that she decorated the party with her three children — Mila, 10, Poppy, eight, and Hal, four — on Sunday afternoon.

‘The children made hot chocolate. We put on Christmas music,” she said.
Kotb, 59, was impressed by Bush Hager’s festive mantel and wreath, with artfully arranged greenery, pine cones and clementines.
“Jenna, how did you know how to do all that? Joanna Gaines?’ she asked her costar, who interviewed the Magnolia founder and her husband Chip in Waco, Texas, earlier this month.
‘Joanna Gaines inspired me. I hung that wreath. I made that one,” Bush Hager said.
The clementines were decorated with cloves for an extra touch, and she said the citrus decor makes her house “smell so good.”
“They’re so easy (to make). It’s a great craft for kids. This isn’t for me. I know I’m not a DIY mom!’ she said.
“All you have to do is get clementines or oranges,” she explained. ‘You poke holes around it with a toothpick and then you stick the cloves in.
“As if Hal could do it. Hal did that,” she said of her four-year-old son. “I had to add a few more, but they smell so good.”

Kotb noted that the clementines could serve as a focal point, and Bush Hager agreed, adding that they would also make great place markers.
“I can’t believe you already have your tree. Do you always give him water? Is that how you keep it alive?’ Kotb asked.
Bush Hager explained that someone told her to boil the water to make her tree last longer. They also discussed adding sugar to the water, which her costar heard about on TikTok.
Kotb, who has two young daughters of her own, says she usually waits until about 10 days before Christmas to get her tree because “you’re excited about it.”
Bush Hager explained that part of the reason she wanted to decorate this weekend was because she was traveling so much for her “Love Comes First” book tour.
“My kids were so excited and they decorated their rooms a little too. We have some tinsel to hang around their mirrors. “We were all there this year,” she said.
“I really wanted to be home and grounded, so I just went to work, but it was fun.”
