Superman: Legacy adds supermodel Sara Sampaio as Lex Luthor’s assistant Eve Tesmacher and Skyler Gisondo as photographer Jimmy Olsen

Just one day after Warner Bros.’ Superman: Legacy brought Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and two more major supporting characters have been cast.

Skyler Gisondo, 27, has signed up with Jimmy Olsen (via THR), while supermodel/actress Sara Sampaio, 32, will play Eve Tesmacher (via Deadline).

They join a cast that includes David Corenswet as Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific and Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho.

New DC Studios president James Gunn will direct from his own script, with production set to begin in March 2024.

Warner Bros. has already set a July 11, 2025 release date for Superman: Legacy, which kicks off Gunn’s new era of DC movie adaptations.

Olsen’s roots go back to almost the beginning of Superman comics, with his first appearance as a nameless, bowtie-clad “office boy” in Action Comics #6 in November 1938.

He was dubbed Jimmy Olsen in 1941 by Superman creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, and the young photojournalist is depicted as a close friend of Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

Olsen has been played on the big screen by Marc McClure in five Superman films, starting with 1978’s Superman: The Movie starring Christopher Reeve.

Sam Huntington played Jimmy in 2006’s Superman Returns, while Michael Cassidy played him in 2016’s Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Sampaio’s character Eve Tesmacher was actually created by Richard Donner and Mario Puzo for the 1978 Superman film, played by Valerie Perrine.

Parker Posey played a character similar to Eve Tesmacher in 2006’s Superman Returns, although she was named Kitty Kowalski and later appeared in several comics.

Gisondo started acting when he was just seven years old and has appeared in episodes of Everbody Loves Raymond, Monk, ER, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, House and CSI.

He went on to films such as Halloween, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story and The Amazing Spider-Man, where he played Howard Stacy, the brother of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy, the Vacation reboot, Booksmart and The Binge.

Sara will next be seen in Billy Knight alongside Al Pacino, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Charlie Heaton and Diana Silvers, which will be released on February 23, 2024.
