The New York Jets are reportedly going to bench Zach Wilson and play Tim Boyle at Quarterback against the Miami Dolphins on Friday.
Wilson endured another awful afternoon as the Jets were defeated 32-6 by the Bills on Sunday, completing just seven of 15 passes for 81 yards.
And now, according to Ian Rapoport, it has spurred coach Robert Saleh into action. And SNY goes one step further and says that a release for Wilson, allowing him to start over somewhere else, is not out of the question.
The Jets are on a three-game losing streak and are 4-6 on the season and third in the AFC East after Sunday’s loss.
Wilson was benched for Boyle towards the end of the Bills loss and after speaking afterwards, Saleh stopped short of confirming Wilson for the Dolphins.

When asked about Wilson’s failure to select a wide receiver in Buffalo, Saleh admitted, “I don’t have an answer for that.”
‘Of course we will go back again to watch the whole band. Whether it’s separation, being more decisive, protecting… like I said, none of it was good.”
After being benched twice last season as the first-choice quarterback, Wilson’s future in New York could hinge on Saleh’s team selections in the final seven games of the regular season.
“We have to take responsibility, and that starts with me – and I can’t do that,” he admitted on Sunday.
“Like I said to Zach on the sidelines, it’s not just him,” he added. “It’s easy to point the finger at the quarterback, but it’s pretty easy to see. You’ve missed protection, you’ve dropped balls, you’ve missed routes.
‘Now of course he has to get better. There are things he could have done much better, but that applies to everyone now.’
This comes against the backdrop of Aaron Rodgers’ quick recovery from the torn Achilles tendon he suffered on the first day of the season, also against the Bills.
The 39-year-old is racing to get back on the field but could be advised to sit out the rest of the season if the Jets fail to make the playoffs.
