A Taylor Swift concertgoer named Ana Benevides died Friday evening at Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, after passing out due to the brutal heat in the stadium.
And shocking fan footage has revealed the moment fans shouted ‘we need water’ as they struggled with dehydration during the electrifying concert.
In the clip, filmed by an audience member, Taylor can be heard responding to the call for water by asking the people in front of her to help, as she notes the sweltering temperature in the room.
She said, ‘Do you see that? Sorry, it’s just really hot. So when someone says he needs water when it’s so hot, he really does need it.’
In an attempt to calm the commotion and direct people to pass water to those in need, Taylor continued, “We don’t have to sing, that’s fine. We just have to give them water. Does anyone here have water?’

During her performance of All Too Well, Taylor grabbed the bottle from a helpful stagehand, sauntered to the center of the stage and launched it into the crowd.
The viral fan video of the incident was captioned: “Taylor throws a water bottle at a fan in need of help while singing All Too Well #RioTSTheErasTour.”
Hours later, it was revealed that a concertgoer named Ana Benevides, 23, had died during the show after fainting due to the brutal heat in the stadium that reached temperatures of more than 45 degrees Fahrenheit, according to local sources.
Swift was completely unaware of the tragedy while she was performing and has since released a statement expressing her devastation over Benevides’ death, as well as her condolences to the young girl’s family.
According to her cousin, Estela Benevides, Benevides reportedly suffered cardiac arrest, as reported by Brazilian media.
Doctors on site tried to revive the young fan, but were unsuccessful. She was taken to Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital but died shortly afterwards

Sad: Taylor was unaware of the tragedy during her performance and has since released a statement expressing her devastation over Benevides’ death
“I can’t believe I’m writing these words, but it is with her broken heart that I say that earlier tonight, before my show, we lost a fan. I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this,” Taylor wrote in her Instagram statement after the show.
“There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and very young,” she continued.
“I’m not going to be able to talk about this from the stage because I feel overwhelmed with sadness when I even try to talk about it.
“I want to say now that I feel this loss deeply, and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends. This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring the store to Brazil.”
During the concert, the hitmaker thanked her Brazilian fans and the city for their warm welcome by lighting up the monumental statue of Christ the Redeemer in her honor.
A projection on the monument read ‘Welcome to Brazil’ and featured a T-shirt design based on the ‘Junior Jewels shirt worn by Taylor in her ‘You Belong With Me’ music video.
Taylor Swift will perform in front of tens of thousands of fans at two more shows in Rio this week, with three more scheduled in Sao Paulo the following weekend.
Her next two shows this weekend will again take place at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro, before heading to Sao Paolo.

It’s understood Taylor will fly back to the US for Thanksgiving, before returning to Brazil for the Sao Paulo shows on November 24.
From Sao Paulo she will go to Tokyo and Singapore before starting the European leg of the Eras Tour.
Latin American fans are taking full advantage of relatively cheap tickets to see the ‘Shake it Off’ singer live.
While tickets in the US rose to more than $1,600 on some resale sites, Vivid Seats offered tickets to concerts in Brazil for just $91.
Taylor wrote on her Instagram on Monday: ‘Starting the South American leg of The Eras Tour in Argentina = the best possible decision.’
‘I can’t even express my gratitude to the crowd in Buenos Aires. I had never been to Argentina before and they gave us the most exciting, magical memories.”
