Top Republican Mike Turner says he’s ‘disappointed’ that there is little movement in President Biden’s classified documents case while Trump’s similar scandal quickly landed him in criminal court

Mike Turner, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), says he is “disappointed” that there appears to be no movement in President Biden’s investigation into classified documents.

“We are very disappointed that nothing appears to be happening in this case,” Turner told DailyMail.com on Thursday.

Turner, who has seen both Biden and Trump’s classified documents, says this ‘equally threatening documents to national security that should not have been outside a controlled, secret area.’

Special counsel Robert Hur was appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland in January to investigate the improper storage of classified documents at Biden’s Delaware home and at a think tank office created after he served as vice president.

Hur has interviewed the president’s aides and family members, including Biden himself and son Hunter. And so is his team reportedly expected to issue a “sharply critical” detailed report criticizing the president and staff by the end of the year, without filing any criminal charges.

In contrast, special counsel Jack Smith quickly charged Trump in July with unlawful withholding of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice and making false statements.

Trump has pleaded not guilty to 40 federal charges and his trial date has been set for May 2024, in the middle of the presidential primaries.

Turner also said the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) is stonewalling lawmakers investigating Biden and Trump classified documents scandals.

‘I am very disappointed in the response we are receiving from ODNI. We’ve all seen the (Trump) indictment, and I’ve seen classified documents from both the Biden and Trump documents. The statements we have seen from Trump do not match the charges.”

“And so our investigation is: show us how the complaint language ties into a document and show us those documents. And we haven’t gotten a response yet.”

Turner, who is from Dayton, Ohio, made the comments during a preview of a Republican report on FISA Section 702 abuse and remedies released today.

He previously told DailyMail.com that it would be “incredibly difficult” not to find that President Biden had broken the law in the way he handled classified material.

Since reviewing the documents, he had also said that Biden’s “conduct” described in Trump’s complaint — based on their alleged mishandling of the classified materials — is “wrong.”

“If you simply repeal the statute, it would be incredibly difficult for anyone not to conclude that Biden’s actions violate specific statutes,” he previously said.

The chairman is particularly concerned about the Justice Department’s possible “unequal application” of the law in how it handles the Trump documents case compared to the Biden case.

Data was first unearthed at a private think tank office where President Biden worked in Washington in November 2022.

More documents were found on December 20 in the president’s garage in Wilmington, Delaware, and on January 12 in his home library.

Biden has said he did not know the documents were there.
