Gemma Oaten revealed she was rushed to hospital after suffering a ‘really bad’ accident that left her wearing a sling.
The Emmerdale actress, who played Rachel Breckle from 2011 to 2015, told her 28.2k Instagram followers that she had broken her elbow after ‘severing the bone’.
Gemma shared a mirror selfie of herself in the sling and a second of her very bruised arm, updating her fans.
She wrote: ‘Then I fell. Literal. Really bad on the walk home with Ruby Wednesday night.
‘I then went to A&E and discovered I had some nice bits of bone from my elbow and now I have a glamorous garland and a load of painkillers.

‘Why am I sharing this? Well, to say: that’s life! It has its ups and downs, but it’s the way you deal with it that makes the game changer.
“I’m so blessed for this week. I am so grateful for the moments, the friendships, and the support of everything I strive for. But most of all, I’m proud of myself and how I responded.
‘As the quote goes, ‘our greatest glory lies not in ever falling, but in rising every time we fall’. CONFUCIOUS.
‘I am great, I feel so positive and powerful and considering the girl I was, I am extremely happy with the open, authentic, vulnerable, resilient woman I am becoming.

Earlier this year, Gemma broke down in tears while appearing live on BBC Breakfast, candidly discussing her 13-year battle with anorexia.
She has openly detailed her battle with the eating disorder and previously revealed that she ended up in a psychiatric ward at the age of 11.
During a segment played on the show, Gemma wiped away tears and was heard saying: ‘My eating disorder developed around the age of nine.’

“My father and mother founded SEED 22 years ago, and I truly believe they helped me come back and also saved my life.”
The voluntary organization – run by a group of ordinary people with direct experience of eating disorders – was founded in September 2000 and became a registered charity in 2004.
Anorexia is a serious psychological condition in which a person restricts his or her food intake, often leaving him or her severely underweight.
The hosts revealed that almost 30,000 people were hospitalized last year for conditions related to eating disorders.
