‘Nobody knows who I am. Growing up with the attention I had in my twenties can lead to a kind of narcissistic feeling. It’s nice to be in a relationship where someone else gets all that attention. It’s good for my ego.’

Her music career began in 2005 when she made some of her vocal recordings public on Myspace, resulting in airplay on BBC Radio 1 and a contract with Regal Recordings.

Her first mainstream single ‘Smile’ reached number one in the UK Singles Chart in July 2006.

Lily had two children, Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 10, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper.

‘I want to be with my children. I want to break a cycle in terms of, you know, standing up for my kids.

‘When I was younger, you were told you could have everything. I believed that when I got pregnant, and when I had my children, I realized this was a lie. That’s not possible and you have to make sacrifices. Most of the time, it’s the children who suffer as a result of those sacrifices – and I’m just not willing to do that to them.”

It comes after David confirmed he and Lily are still very much in love, as he described his marriage as ‘so amazing’.

Speak with Peoplethe Stranger Things star, who married the Smile hitmaker in 2020, said that as their relationship continues, the pair are “growing closer and closer.”

The actor, 48, admitted that the SAG-AFTRA acting strikes had affected his relationship with his wife as he stopped working.

He confessed, “Let me tell you, my wife likes it when I go to work because it’s nice for her to have her life and me to have my life and not just irritate each other with the whole time to be around.”

David admitted that he felt like he was falling into depression without work and compared it to the period during COVID.

He said he felt sorry his wife had to deal with him in that condition while she starred in the West End show Pillowman this summer.

Earlier this month it was reported that the couple were ‘living separate lives’ after fans noticed that 38-year-old Lily had unfollowed her other half.

It was revealed that they had ‘barely seen each other’ for the past three months, as a source told The Sun: ‘Lily and David have barely been together for the past three months and have been living separate lives.’

They added: ‘While in London for the Pillowman, David was spotted performing before Lily was left alone in July.

‘In her spare time, Lily spent time with friends in London or with her children. When she returned to the US with them, there was no sign of David.”

However, David has now said that the couple’s marriage continues to grow and that he is happy to help raise her two children Ethel, 11, and Marnie, 10, from Lily’s previous relationship with ex-husband Sam Cooper.

The couple celebrated their third wedding anniversary in September, with Lily sharing a photo from their wedding day on Instagram.

The British singer-songwriter shared a photo of the couple decked out in their wedding outfits, moments after making their union legal at the famed Graceland Wedding Chapel in 2020.

Allen absolutely glowed in a white 1960s-inspired Dior dress with a matching bridal veil that fell down her back in two tiers and black suede heels.

‘Three years with this man, the second best decision I ever made. The first was that dress,” she wrote in the caption.

Not long after they became husband and wife under Nevada law, a wedding reception of sorts was held at a local fast food burger joint In-N-Out.
